Isuzu is a Japanese manufacturer of diesel engines since 1937. The Isuzu company is renowned worldwide for its commercial vehicles, particularly diesel engines and trucks. Isuzu is a leading global manufacturer of medium- and heavy-duty diesel trucks and an authority on diesel engine technology. The 493 engine is derived from the mature 4JB1 technology of Isuzu Motors of Japan. Jiangling Motors pioneered the introduction of Isuzu light truck and 4JB1 engine technology in China in 1985 through a combination of technology and trade, and began assembling, manufacturing, and selling Isuzu light trucks and engines. In 1993, the company established a joint venture with Isuzu. With the tightening of domestic emission regulations, Jiangling Motors, through collaboration with Isuzu and the adoption of Bosch high-pressure common rail technology, has upgraded the 493 engine from its initial naturally aspirated China T1 emission standard to the current China T5 emission standard. With power ranging from 57kW to 85kW, the engine boasts powerful power, ultra-low fuel consumption, ultra-low vibration and noise, mature technology, and easy maintenance. It is an ideal engine for generator sets.
